We finish a meal without really tasting it, then feel unsatisfied and reach for something else. Mindful eating is the antidote.<\/p>\n<h2>What mindful eating is<\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;s not a diet. It&#8217;s not about restricting what you eat. It&#8217;s about paying attention \u2014 to the taste, texture, smell, and sensation of food. Research shows it reduces overeating, improves digestion, and increases satisfaction from meals.<\/p>\n<h2>The 5-5-5 rule<\/h2>\n<p>Take five deep breaths before you start eating. Eat each bite slowly \u2014 chew at least five times per bite. After five minutes, check in: am I still hungry or am I satisfied?<\/p>\n<h2>Eat without screens<\/h2>\n<p>No phone. No laptop. No TV. When you eat while distracted, you eat more and enjoy it less. Your brain never registers the full sensory experience.<\/p>\n<h2>Stop when you&#8217;re 80% full<\/h2>\n<p>It takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to send fullness signals to your brain. If you eat until you&#8217;re stuffed, you&#8217;ve already overshot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Small habits.
